Lynda Wyld

Lynda Wyld is a graduate of University of Sheffield (year of 1990) and underwent general surgical training in the in Sheffield, Nottingham and Manchester.  She did her PhD at the University of Sheffield.   She was appointed to an academic post at the University of Sheffield in 2002 and is now Professor of Surgical Oncology with a clinical specialty interest in Breast Surgery.   Her main research interest is in age related inequalities in cancer surgery where she has led projects to improve outcomes and develop decision aids for older women with breast cancer.

Her other career focus has been to develop training in breast cancer surgery and in particular to see the development of breast surgery as a specialty in its own right.  She is past President of the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO), past Chair of the education and training committee of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), a Trustee and President Elect of the Association of Breast Surgery (ABS) and is the President of the European Breast Exam Board.  She is an elected member of Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

She has 180 peer reviewed publications, over 30 book chapters, 4 book editorships and over 9 million pounds in grant funding.  Her H score is 47 with over 8300 citations.  She has supervised 10 doctoral degrees, 15 undergraduate dissertations and 8 masters degrees.
