
Michael Kerin

Professor Michael J Kerin is President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
He is Research Director of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, Principal Investigator of the SFI funded Precision Oncology Ireland, the All Island Cancer Research Institute (AICRI) and Co-Investigator of numerous other collaborative cancer research initiatives.

As Consultant Surgeon, Professor Kerin has a special interest in breast cancer and endocrine surgery.
His research interests include molecular profiling in cancer, cancer risk prediction, cellular interactions in the cancer microenvironment and emerging methods for breast cancer diagnosis and management. Professor Kerin has contributed to over 450 peer-reviewed papers, mentored more than 50 MD and PhD students and helped shape national and international cancer care policy.

In 2024, he was conferred with a Doctor of Science (DSc) by the National University of Ireland in recognition of his published research in breast cancer.
